The heat has brought extreme fire danger, so there is no smoking allowed except for at designated smoking areas. No charcoal BBQs are allowed except for the ones provided around the lake. No wood fires are allowed at all. All cooking at the camp areas is with propane only and off the ground. Please be very aware of fire!!

Fishing notice:
Along with fire danger from the heat the heat has also slowed fishing way, way down, so be aware that the only time people are catching fish is early morning.

We will be closed starting August 21st through August 30th and reopen on the 31st. We are setting up and hosting the wonderful Faerieworlds Festival, a Celtic/Mystical music festival based on Faeries!!! For more information on Faerieworlds go to our calendar page. All fishing, camping and disc golf will be closed during this time.

we have portland's best campgrounds!

Camping is by reservation only so please call or email! We are also a camp ground, not an RV park, so there is no long term camping over 4 days.

Camping is available in this wonderful setting, with either tent or RV sites. Tent camping is either in the woods or in more open areas, group camping or individual, while RV sites have power and water hook-ups, plus we have a septic dump on site. Individual Tent camping is $25 a night up to 3 people, RV camping is $30 up to 3 people. For tent camping over 3 people/group camping is $7 per person, for RVs if you have over 3 people it's $7 per person extra on top the $30. In the summer camping is by reservation so you must call or email.

when checking in you must arrive before 6 pm, if you arrive after 6 pm then the camping price doubles.

(We are a family park, and we do not stay up all night for folks, sorry).

Check in and check out is from noon till noon. For those that play disc golf, your disc golf fees are also covered during this time, noon till noon. If you wish to play the next day past noon you can, simply pay the day use fees of $4 per person that applies after 12 PM.

Horning's Hideout is truly a land of enchantment and has the best camping in the Portland - Washington County area. During most of the year we can offer a land of quiet relaxation in an uncrowded private country getaway. This time is during the summer weekdays or Fall, Winter or Spring. Be aware that our summer weekends we are normally booked with weddings, so most summer weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) we will have late night celebrations going on, so there will be late night noise. So if you can get away during the week in the summer we can offer you a campground unlike public campgrounds. Where one sometimes has concerns about neighboring campers, our private campground offers real peace of mind and the security that your neighboring campers will not disturb you. Quiet enough that in the morning you may find tracks a few yards off mapping where deer or elk have passed through in the night.

Because we live in a heavily forested area during fire season the Forest Service does not allow campfires (we wouldn't allow them anyway, we like green vs charcoal :-) ). Fire season is typically July through September, so please bring propane stoves to cook with during that season.

Webmasters note; I saw not only my first hummingbird at Horning's Hideout, I saw my first bald eagle which was happily making off with one of Horning's big ol' trout.
